We will be starting out this
year on a positive note. Jeff will be starting out the New Year with a Safety
presentation. The idea of the safety minuet is to keep you from getting injured.
Bill Bryan will be turning a piece of wood while Jeff is doing the safety
portion.
We will have a presentation by John Vick from Bozovich
Imported woods; he will have some samples of the wood they import. John lives in
Pensacola and works for Bozovich in Greenville Alabama. This will give you the
opportunity to maybe finding out what the name is of some of the wood you need
identified, if you are interested you may bring a sample for John to look at.
Check out their website @ www.Bozovich.com
Jeff Olive wants each member to
make and bring a Honey Dipper to the meeting. This will be for a teaching
moment.
Darnell is going to have 8
pieces of identical wood same size etc. It will be a challenge for those of you
that want to participate. If you want to participate you will be given a piece
of wood and you can make whatever you want. You cannot add anything except the
finish.
The steering committee met Saturday the 7th
and we decided this year’s Christmas party was the greatest.
Thanks to everyone that helped make it
possible.
The committee is asking for your input for the selection
of demonstrators. We will be accepting your input for a turner you would like to
see at our meeting. We need to plan ahead because some of these turners are in
great demand. If you have a request for one of our own members to do a Demo
please ask.
Remember the club has a mentor
program for your learning pleasure; all you have to do is ask for their help.
Their names are George McClure, Bill Hoff, Bill Bryan, Jack Diamond, Fred Bond,
Ralph Thomas, and Al McCoy. If I missed anyone please let me know.
See you at the meeting.
