Lee Howard Accepts award from Optimist Club President Robert Hill for our help with their fund raiser this past Christmas.

Optimist club President thanking the club for the supply of ornaments to sell at their annual Christmas tree sale.

Thank you for thinking of us.

The club auctioned off two of Alan Lacers donated items to the members.
A lidded box and a hook tool he made for part of his demonstration. The two winners were very happy with their purchase. Leland won the bid for the lidded bowl, and Rick got the hook tool.

The auction went pretty well as usual.

Our members are very attentive as usual they came to learn.

Part of the show and tell table. Looks like we are having some good participation in this evolution, remember if you are participating you are learning. Keep up the effort.

Darnell continues to turn making mementos for his relatives and friends.

Jack turns a great looking bowl. Shows a piece of hard surface material he uses for enhancing his turnings.

Jen continues to bring in some of her work. She is really improving with her choice of turnings. If your turning your learning.

Nice to see Mark back at the lathe again.

One of our newest turners presenting some of his fine turnings. Very good for some one who just started. He said he uses the web for some of his techniques.

Ralph shows off his new endeavor making drums to enter in the AAW contest this year for viewing in Richmond at the Symposium.

Rick shows off his creation for this month looks very nice.

Ray makes a handle for one of his gouges.

Ralph's demonstration for this month was titled Power Sanding. There is a link on our web page for his hand-out with some of his information used for this demo.

Inside Bowls.

Notice the dust mask and the vacuum being used during his demo. It is wise to use both items for your lungs sake. Its a good habit to have, you never know how toxic the wood may be that you are sanding.

Thank you Ralph for your time and the helpful tips.

Ralph's formula for his finish is very simple and has a nice finish after buffing.

Ralph uses 2/5 Lacquer sanding sealer, 2/5 Clear lacquer and 1/5 lacquer thinner. NOTE: all solutions must be lacquer based. Ralph uses one coat in most cases. Buffs to a smooth matt finish.

Jack Diamond's 85th birthday celebration held at his Daughter's home. Thank to his son in law for the pictures. Everyone in the club was invited. Everyone had a good time helping Jack celebrate his milestone.

The old Philosopher.

Thanks to MaryAnn McCoy for the Red Velvet Cake a special request from the Birthday boy his favorite.

Everyone had a great time. If you were not there you missed a good time. Jack was really surprised by his friends.
