Artistic Woodturners 2006 Christmas party.

Awaiting the Gift exchange and Food.

Part of the business meeting and awaiting the drawing for the gifts.

More of the same can't we speed this up I'm hungry.

Me Too. This looks like a hungry crew.
Now the auction begins, what's this Al donated a piece of his Butternut to be
auctioned off. We had a very good auction raised &&& for our
treasury. This one was the biggest one so far.
We then had our show and tell for the ladies that came to
the Christmas Party.

There are some odd looking turnings to be sure, but remember you were asked to
bring things you made that required some turning. They all do.

Very hard to turn on a lathe, but Gary did it.

A very different ornament by George. He got the wood at the Woodcraft Store.

Mark turns another outside/inside turning good job.

Lorin (Parting Tool) makes an outstanding angel for show and tell very seasonal.

Lee Howard shows off many hours of learning how to carve Chinese Ball. Now that
you have that out of the way you can do some real turning.

Ralph turns in a very unusual bowl made from the root of a walnut tree dug up in
Warrington after Ivan. The only part of the tree Al McCoy, Mike Peters and Paul
Sherman could save was the root ball. The trunk and limbs were mostly sap wood
so the three of them dug out the stump and Mike and Paul shared the wood. It
surfaced a few weeks ago at Ralph's house, Mike brought it to have Ralph core
the wood with his One way coring tool. Mike gave Ralph this piece, nice texture.
Mike shows off his inlayed table he made. Mike has a laser that he uses to cut
his inlays with very high precision. Mike praised the help he gets from Leland
and his father for sharing their expertise in making tables.
We then got to the most interesting part of the party. The Gift exchange. We
drew names to see what order we received our gift brought to the party by the
members and wives if they wanted to participate in the exchange.

The first to draw was Fred Bond and he took the largest package furnished by
Norm Feinberg a huge birdhouse. I may not be able to remember who brought what
so don't get angry with me (Al) remember I am older than dirt.

Annie shows off her prize bowl. See I forgot already.

Bill Bryan picked one finished by George McClure.

Danny received a round nose scraper.

Darnell received the nutcracker that was made by Lee Howard.

Mike receives bowl made by our President James McClure.

Jack drew a Purpleheart bowl turned by Al McCoy donated so his wife could
participate in the gift exchange.

Dick McNeill drew a candle holder. There were several turners that turned in
candleholders. If you know let me know who made the items that I missed.

Erica draws an interesting turning.

John Peeples has chosen a turning by Charles Toner.

Floyd has a turning to treasure from Jack Diamond.

Gary has a turning that will hold a 3 lb can of coffee. Nice idea for a coffee
can.

George received a very nice piece made from a burl. I believe made by Mike
Peters.

Looks like Gloria received some kits or tools.

James receives a Peppermill turned by Charles Toner.
Mrs. Peeples Drew a sack full of turning blocks.

Lee looks to see who turned this masterpiece.

Leland receives a nice apron created by Sue on her new sewing machine. OB
couldn't wear this one.

Mark will be bringing something he gets out of this idea book, good gift for a
new turner.

MaryAnn McCoy is looking at a turning by Erica. She was happy.

Shirley Bryan receives one of the candle holders turned in for the exchange.

Mrs. Toner is looking at her segmented bowl she just unwrapped.

Mrs. Jackson looks happy with her selection.

Mrs. Later scopes out her prize bowl. Memory is failing.

Ned Checking out his platter received during the exchange.

OB looks happy with his selection from Mike Demaline.

Mr. Parting Tool (Later) receives a very nice segmented bowl.

Mike Peters takes a good look at his beautiful inlayed platter. I need some
help.

Ralph Thomas scopes out the details of his exchange gift.

Ray Welsh displays a fine spaulted vase.

Russ holds up Al McCoy's entry into the exchange program. I remembered this one.

Sue will have to turn or carve something to paint. Help her out OB.
Charlie Toner received the last gift on the table from Ned Wernick. Various
sizes of steel wires used to burn rings on turnings. The good part is still to
come. FOOD !!!
It is now time for the 1200 feeding. The blessing was offered by Rev. George
McClure.
