Artistic Woodturners
October 2005 Newsletter
The committee met on Thursday at the
presidents home and decided on the following for this month.
We decided to check out Sam's Club for some information on getting our shirts
made there. The type of shirt will not be a Tee shirt, but a nice shirt with a
collar and maybe a pocket. If you would like to have the clubs logo placed on
other clothing like an apron or a hat that will come after we get the logo
formatted and place an order.
We will be making up some of the Artistic Wood Turners invitation cards for each
member to carry around in there wallets so they can invite new prospective
members when they are out and about talking to people about joining us at our
meeting.
If you didn't get a chance to sign up for the Christmas party because you missed
the last meeting, fret no more, James wants everyone to have the opportunity to
be at the party and bring your wife. The sign-up sheet is still open and you can
e-mail James. He said that we are short on vegetables. This will give you the
opportunity to plan ahead so put it on your calendar.
The Pensacola Interstate Fair begins October 20, and ends October 30, 2005.
Please bring your wooden items to building 2 on Tuesday October 18th from 2:00
p.m. until 8:00p.m. or Wednesday October 19th from 2:00p.m. till 4:00p.m. You
may reclaim your entry after 9:30p.m. in the evening on Saturday October 29 or
after 11a.m. on Sunday the 30th.
The clubs Library is now on our web page in
the members area. If you find any errors you can call or e-mail George with the
correct information. If you need help logging on e-mail Danny and he will get
you set up with the correct information.
During the Christmas party we will start the clubs
exchange program. The gifts this year will be something that you have turned.
There has been some interest in members wanting turnings from other
members. We will discuss how the program will work at the following
meetings.
The demonstration for this month will be the Christmas Ornament. Al McCoy will
be doing the body of the ornament and Ray Welch will be doing the finials If you
have not checked the web site for the how to instructions, go to the front page
and click on the ornament jig it
is linked to the site. Danny will be doing a baby rattle for November and James
will do a Natural Edge Bowl.
Each member is encouraged to bring a piece of wood to the meeting for the
auction. Make sure it is something you would turn your self. Every dollar we
make on the auction goes into the treasury for the benefit of all members. See
you there.
