Artist Woodturners
February 05 Newsletter
By now things have quieted down since
Ivan, some resemblance of normal has arrived. If you are one of the homeowners
still reeling from Ivan you have our thoughts and prayers. If you need some
help please let the club know.
If you are not presently a member of
AAW you are encouraged to join. With the membership comes a subscription to
their quarterly magazine, receive a directory of AAW members, and are insured
if you decide to do a demonstration for the club. The membership is just $35
per year.
We have planned a web sight
demonstration by Danny Haggard, Sharpening Demo by Al McCoy, and George
McClure will have a demo on making a stamp dispenser.
Members who have a problem with
sharpening tools are encouraged to bring the tools they are having trouble
sharpening. Al will have his sharpening rig set up to help you maintain your
tools in top-notch condition. This demo is not just to bring your tools for
sharpening, but also to help maintain the cutting edge at all time during the
turning procedure while you are in your shop. A sharp tool is a must for
efficient turning.
The Presidents challenge for the month
of February will be "Turn something you have never turned" the
committee wants the club to participate in this and all other challenges so
that we all become better turners.
Do not forget about show and tell.
Bring in your creations that you have turned since last we met. This is part
of learning the art of turning. SHOW AND TELL.
The panel will conduct
"Question and answer"; the membership had a positive reaction to
this segment. The committee decided that this was very instructive. Bring your
questions for discussion and answers.
Please update your e-mail address or
any other information for keeping you informed as to the happenings of the
club.
The next turner scheduled for a
demonstration is Donald Derry in April.
