Artistic Woodturners
November Newsletter

As the Lathe turns: So does time.

With all the available wood at our disposal there shouldn't be a member without a thing to turn. Bring in your turnings for "Show and Tell" and fill up the table with your Ivan contributions.

The way it looks the club will have Trent Bosch in January the third Saturday of the month. Start making your plans to attend. The price hasn't been established as of this time. The number of people attending the demonstration will dictate it. We will have in place our new video camera for better viewing. The club may need a larger screen TV to use in conjunction with the one we have. If you have a TV in working order and would like to donate it contact the Steering Committee. The committee discussed purchasing another camera and a switching device, which is up for discussion with the membership.

The demonstration for November will be  "Christmas Ornaments" Al McCoy will be doing the Demo. James McClure will be doing a demo on "making a yoyo".

The President's Challenge will be The Captive Ring.

We will have the FORUM starting at this meeting. This is a new segment added to the meeting. Bring in your questions on how to, or any question pertaining to woodturning and the appointed members will try to answer it for you. The question may lead to the lathe with a demo on your question to try and help you with the answer. As you know the sole purpose of the club is to promote woodturning any way we can.

The Club is planning to have a Christmas party at our December the 18th meeting. The party is for the family and members. The club will furnish the meat BBQ beef or pork and the families are asked to bring a side dish or desert. There will be a sign up sheet for desert or side just to balance the meal. We are going to play the Dirty Santa gift exchange. You are requested to bring a turning or something wrapped related to turning, tools, finish etc. for the gift exchange.

The President's Challenge for December will be the Ornament.

Things to look forward to are, we will try to have special offers on our web site, we may order more Anchor Seal in 5 gallon containers if we have the interest, and coming up in February our web master will be having at our meeting a demo by Danny Haggard titled "Web site for Dummy's".  He will be showing how to use our web site.

The web site needs to be made to fit your needs, so bring in your ideas as to what you would like to see incorporated. We need contributors to make it better.

See you at the meeting!
