Artistic Woodturners

September Newsletter

 Hello Woodturners.

Our association meeting for this month has been changed to the 28th of September for this month only. OB has a demo on the 21st in Hattiesburg Ms. So the committee changed the date to the 28th.

We will meet at Gary Jacobson’s shop at 6955 Turnberry Circle Navarre, Fl.  Directions to his Home are as follows. Catch 98 towards Navarre turn left into Holly by the Sea at a CITGO Tom Thumb stop light, go to stop sign turn right and follow green signs with arrows, Gary lives at the end of the circle. If you get lost his PH # is 936-1729.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 10 am Gary will be having a demo on how to make a marble inlay cheese platter.

Bring your own lawn chairs if you want to set down and watch the demo.

Don’t forget to bring your project for the month, which is turning a platter any size, large or small. The only requirement, it has to be turned.

We will have our regular show and tell part of the meeting to check our progress.

The club is asking for volunteers to help man a woodturning booth at St Anne’s round up, the 4th 5th and 6th of October. We have a good location in a corner booth close to the main drag. We will have a Midi lathe to turn on. If you have your own lathe, and would like to bring it just let the club know. We have been asked to bring the pole lathe from the Heritage Preservation Pavilion, which the club operated at the Heritage Days in June of this year. Last year we had three (3) lathes running at one time. We will not be permitted to sale anything, this is just a demo, so bring a supply of turning stock for free handouts. We made chain pulls, honey dippers, goblets with turned rings, and some small bowls. If you volunteer and have a specialty that you like to turn please let us know.

We will need people to keep the booth open and operate the pole lathe, from 4 to 10 on Friday, noon to 10 on Saturday, and noon to 6 on Sunday.   Call Al McCoy at 434-1687 to help any of the three days. The club will have passes for free entry into the Round Up.
