Artistic Wood turners
August Newsletter

Another month is upon us, just where does the time go, I hope that it is being spent turning wood. Let us all try to beautify the earth with our work.

If your one of the folks that missed John Jordan's demo, you really missed one of the best presentations that I have ever seen on any subject. John has his own method of expressing his ideas in a way a person can understand.

Al McCoy recorded his two sessions, and will place the tapes or CD's into the clubs Library for all to view after they are edited. We have John's permission to use the recordings in our club for our members.

Coming up in November the 14th thru 17th, there will be a four (4) day hands on demo with Binh Pho. He will be teaching the attendees how to turn thin wall turnings, how to do piercing on the thin walled turnings, and air brushing techniques. The program will be limited to just four people and three spots are taken already, if you want to attend contact OB about signing up for the last spot. The cost for the 4 days is $400 per person.

The meeting will be held at Leland Leonard's shop located at 537 Brent Lane at 10 am on the 17th of August 2002.

Mr. Leland Leonard and Mr. Jeff Olive will conduct the Demo's. Leland will be doing a demo on his copy lathe, making bamboo turnings and torpedo legs which are known as table legs. Leland and his father make furniture in their shop. Jeff will be showing the club his own method of sanding, polishing, and finishing of turned items.

Parking will be across the street in the AAA parking lot, be careful crossing the street. You will be on your own for lunch if you want to eat. Close by there are a few places to eat, China Star, Checkers, and McDonalds all within walking distance.  Don't forget to bring your project for August, which is a turned goblet. They will be judged and a prize awarded by the club. Bring in other items that you made for the show and tell portion of the meeting. Keep the World Turning.
